Este un album perfect. Ascult de mult timp Virgin Black si nu m-au dezamagit niciodata. Nici nu cred ca vor reusi vreodata. Albumul acesta face parte dintr-o trilogie: Pianissimo, Mezzo Forte, Fortissimo. Prima parte (inca nelansata), va fi o compozitie eminamente clasica (impreuna cu orchestra de muzica simfonica din Adelaide), pe cand ultima parte (nelansata inca) revine la stilul death-doom al trupei. Albumul Mezzo Forte face legatura intre acestea doua. Il recomand cu caldura (or money back guarantee).

OMG OMG mai e putin si iese Systematic Chaos (5 Iunie). Nu m-am putut abtine si am asculat cele doua piese care au fost leaked (nu dau link aici ), si pot sa zic ca o sa-mi (ne) placa la nebunie. Din cat am auzit eu e mai heavy si mai ne-corny decat orice album de pana acum, iar versurile sunt bazate pe fantasy (The Dark Eternal night cred care are legatura cu Ctulhu ceva ca e prea "mysterious otherworldly beings"). Si se pare ca au lasat-o mai usor cu clapele, si ce-am auzit eu de la nenea Rudess in piesele alea nu era synth-wanking din-ala ca de obicei, ci pasaje de bun gust, bazate pe contrapunct.

 

+ JLB si-a revenit total, are o voce superba pe album

+ Portnoy canta... si canta o gramada, si canta mrf

 

- Am senzatia ca nu va fi nici o piesa mai lenta sau acustica.

 

Si merita mentionat albumul Snakes and Arrows de la Rush care e prea tare si a iesit de curand, ca sa nu mai zic de noul album de la Porcupine Tree.

MARCO MENDOZA LIVES FOR TOMORROW WITH RICHIE KOTZEN

 

Frontiers Records proudly announce the release of Marco Mendoza's solo album Live For Tomorrow on July 6.

 

Marco is one of the most respected and well known musicians in the Los Angeles music scene. According to Ted Nugent, "Marco is the world's greatest bass player and he's got the soul". He also played with the likes of Thin Lizzy (with whom he's been recently touring UK and going to appear live during the summer), Whitesnake, Blue Murder, Dolores O’Riordan and The Cranberries.

 

Though most often recognized for his jaw-dropping 6-string fretless bass chops, Marco is a master of the 4, 5 and 6-string fretted bass, too. But that's not enough. In Live For Tomorrow, his debut solo album, Marco shows his hidden vocal talent, which just needs to be heard to be believed! Mixing different vocals styles from the bluesy David Coverdale and Paul Rodgers ranges to the Eric Martin-esque overtones, Mendoza shines as a singer that is able to deliver a passionate and strong performance in every song.

 

Live For Tomorrow was mostly written and produced by Marco during the second half of 2006 and the beginning of 2007, together with former Poison and Mr. Big guitarist Richie Kotzen, who also produced the album. Musically the record offers a sincere and down to earth sound, reminiscing of classic Hard Rock (with hints to AC/DC, Mr Big, Damn Yankees etc.) with Blues and Melodic Rock roots.

 

Some very special guests appear to tribute the talent of this amazing guy. Among them Ted Nugent, Doug Aldrich (of Whitesnake) and Steve Lukather of Toto all offer guitar solos appearances, Tommy Aldridge of Whitesnake and Brian Tichy (Pride & Glory, Ozzy Osbourne, Foreigner, Billy Idol) play drums while Richie Kotzen of course handles the bulk of guitars and duets on vocals with Marco on I Want You.

 

Sit back, light a cigar, relax, put the stereo on and enjoy the ride that this musical master can offer!

 

Live For Tomorrow will be released on July 6 in Europe on Frontiers Records with US release on Locomotive and Japanese release on King.

ATAXIA was a band for about two weeks in February 2004. It’s members are Joe Lally of Fugazi, Josh Klinghoffer and John Frusciante. The word ‘Ataxia’ is Greek for ‘disorder’. We were unaware at the time that it also has a meaning in English which is: total or partial inability to coordinate voluntary bodily movements, as in walking. In keeping with our names’ Greek meaning (quite unintentionally), the sections of our songs never had an arranged order. All our songs’ foundations are the bass which always plays one part throughout. The drums and guitar move about and generally use the vocal as their guide. The vocals and words were written, but the order the vocal sections occurred in, and how long the spaces between were, was different every time. So we would all stay on our toes to stay together for dynamics, changes in groove, switches to new sections, etc. We played two shows and recorded two records. The first record was released in August 2004. It was named after the surrealist activity called Automatic Writing. That was where people like Andre Breton and Max Ernst would write words in the form of sentences and paragraphs, but with absolutely no conscious attempt at meaning. They would observe the structure of their subconscious and it’s peculiar methods of organization (or the lack thereof) this way. And if there is one sure answer I can give to the question, “How did you write and record two albums in a week and a half?”, it is that we gave absolutely no thought to what we were doing, whatsoever. This music is unblemished by any expectations of a specific result, on our part. The three of us simply got together to hear what music had to say that week. We had fun together and this is the record of that fun. -
