David Gilmour & Friends Sing Beatles: Here, There and Everywhere

David Gilmour Covers The Beatles For MOJO!

“I wish I had been in The Beatles,” the Pink Floyd man tells MOJO, as we give away his cover of Here, There And Everywhere exclusively on the free CD available with our new issue – on sale this Tuesday (August 25).

SOME TWO YEARS ago, David Gilmour very kindly sent MOJO a cover version of The Beatles’ Here, There And Everywhere.

“I really wish I had been in The Beatles,” Gilmour tells MOJO of the genesis behind his cover. “[They] taught me how to play guitar, I learnt everything. The bass parts, the lead, the rhythm, everything. They were fantastic.”

That love is manifested on the wonderful harmony-filled cover of the 1966 Revolver original recorded with his son Joe. Previously unreleased anywhere, it forms the cornerstone of our collection of music designed to celebrate the Pink Floyd leader’s life, work and influence, David Gilmour & Friends.

A number of Gilmour’s closest collaborators appear on our bespoke compilation while the guitarist is featured on six of the tracks himself, including songs from Phil Manzanera, Robert Wyatt and The Pretty Things.

David Gilmour’s debut solo album – the history and the tones

David Gilmour’s highly anticipated new album will be out in a few weeks. His solo career however, started way back in the late 70s, when Pink Floyd was in the middle of their hay days. Often overlooked, David’s first solo album feature some great moments and beautiful tones. In this feature we’ll dig deep into the history of the album, the gear and the tones.

Nu are cum să fie ”mai bogus” decât ultimul Pink Floyd (The Endless River) sau Metallic Spheres (cu The Orb). :D Mă bucur că la 70 de ani Gilmour are chef de cântat. Fragmentele pe care le-am auzit sunt numai bune de fredonat. Sper să fie un album la fel de reușit ca și On an Island. Mai comentăm peste două săptămâni. :respect:

September 5th 2015 was the first live complete David Gilmour performance since 2006. A special live rehearsal show at the Brighton Centre turned out to be a amazing evening to those in attendance including our very own David Gilmour Tour corespondent Simon. Brighton Centre is not considered a good sounding or acoustic theatre but David and his band gave fans a flawless sound with a band very much in sync. The highlight of the show itself was seeing Mr Screen return offering a very special light show minus lasers which are expected to return in Croatia on September 12th. The Set list below is expected to change after the Rattle That Lock album release with the majority if not entire album expected to be the first set.

David Gilmour: ‘Rattling That Lock’ Once Again (Q&A)

“I keep thinking that I want to do it all with a live band and get in a big room and record the songs,” David Gilmour, the legendary guitarist and main vocalist of Pink Floyd, admits when I ask him if he misses working live with a band, as he did in the halcyon days of the Floyd in Abbey Road or the band’s own studio Britannia Row.

“But I always seem to find myself at the end thinking that what I’ve done (on my own) is so good that it would be hard to top it by doing that.”

“I have had a long and busy career, and I don’t feel it’s essential for me to keep going at the rate I was going when I was younger. I work until things start gathering momentum. This just happens to be that moment.”

“It’s been nine years,” Gilmour, seated in the London offices of his long-time publicist, begins a bit sheepishly when we begin our interview about his new album, Rattle That Lock, and why it’s taken so long to follow up 2006′s excellent On An Island.

Watch David Gilmour's First Major U.S. Television Interview

David Gilmour released his new LP Rattle That Lock, the Pink Floyd guitarist's first solo album in nine years, on Friday, and on Saturday the rocker sat down with CBS This Morning to discuss the album. Joining Gilmour for his first ever in-depth U.S. television interview was his wife and collaborator Polly Samson, and the two spoke about the songwriting process, Richard Wright's death and the end of Pink Floyd.
