Am observat, in UNELE fuzzuri, cu cat sunt mai multe tranzistoare, cu atat diferenta de HFE intre ele (in general daca e mare, deci se matchuie just sa be safe within limits),poate genera un sound sa zicem..."fara nimic", ciudat, liniar, steril.
Nici nu pot sa explic, dar poate sa il transforme din fuzz fat wooly cu ceva caracter, in ceva pur si simplu buzz saw weirdness, dar NEVOIT, adica intr-un design care nu e facut sa sune asa.
Cum omul a vrut ceva cat mai apropiat de ce era pedala originala, am zis sa be safe
Oricum nu aveam BC239C, si am zis daca tot iau sa be on the safe side, si sa iau mai multe dar matched.

Some updates
(busy busy)*Fixed an Alesis Monitor
*The Mesa Caliber .50 (same one) came back, because previously the owner did not mention it had real problems (so it did not need just a tube swap).
Had to diagnose everything, took off the board (desoldered the 29 wires haha), and measures everything I could, and also cahnged some filter caps.
Played it for some days, and it does not exhibit the same problems so far. Unfortunately the amp has a very dodgy PCB,so I really don't know how much life it has in it hehe; I also resoldered some things. It works OK now, but we shall see.

*Fender MIM Strat - pup change and a setup and I changed the nut also; the old one had the D string way too low (I put in a nice graphtech and also brought it perfectly to size and filed down the slots to accommodate the radius also)

*2 MXR Pedals in repairs - Fixed an MXR Micro amp and the MXR Blue Box is still in repair
*Finished a DOD 280 Modded Compressor, that works very well for bass and guitar also.
I took the time to mod and test this one, you can see all the sockets
Very transparent, and it lets all the frequencies through!

sa vedem daca tin la fel de mult
Pt mine la Elixir minunea e in cele fara wind,fiind tratate,pt ca NU se tarnishuie ,si nu asa mult cele cu coating(atat ca imi place acea senzatie permanenta de alunecare,care aici e mai slaba decat pe nano,fiind din ce simt, coatul mai subtire,mentinand totusi acel feel dar nu asa pregnant,ce ii da si acel crisp tone fata de nano). Ori au schimbat "reteta" la coat sa reziste la fel si sa fie mai subtire ori e...doar mai subtire

ce parere ai despre ele? voiam si eu sa le incerc... am folosit doar nanoweb pana acu cum ti se par in comparatie?
Pai, se simte mai tare fizic windul, si soundul e mai crisp fata de cel putin dull cum e cu nano. Corzile fara wind cred ca sunt aceleasi.
Corzi destul de snappy si bright cu atac destul. Mult mai apropiate de niste corzi fara coat.
Cel putin asta am sesizat eu pana acum.

De unde stii, ca unii nu fac?
Carvin stock spre exemplu, are(apropo, unii folosesc si shielding paint...si nu vezi nimic daca nu stii cum arata o cavitate cu asa paint):

Nu exista o chitara "pentru X gen"
Exista ce chitara vrei tu sa folosesti sa obtii un anume ton, pe care ulterior il vei incadra, dupa gustul TAU, "pentru X gen".
Am vazut chitaristul din Venom, cantand live, pe un... strat cu single coils. Nu, nu minuni cu super high output etc, era un strat banal.
Toate chestiile astea cu aia e pentru aia, ampu ala e pt aialalta, sunt doar pareri si atat.
Ok, evident, nu poti DIRECT folosi un amp Fender Twin Reverb sa canti metale, dar te asigur, ca, cu un eq-ing adecvat si o anume pedala in fata sau un pre de rack adecvat, scoti fara probleme.
Ca nu e pe gustul unora, si nu e "standard" e cu totu altceva, dar poate tie iti place mult rezultatul, vs un amp "dedicat" default de altii pentru asa ceva.
Nu mai fa comparatii de genu, testeaza tot daca poti, si ia ce iti place. Nu te lua dupa lume.
De ce sa ne interesam si sa cautam ce e cu chitara aia...
Stim ca brandu X e baza si gata! cam asta am vazut si eu asa in mare.Spre exemplu, eu am 4 Carvinuri...ma crezi ca nu sunt INNEBUNIT dupa ele in mod special? Nicidecum. Eu inca nu am gasit chitara aia "pentru mine".
Stiu cam ce ar fi sau ce ar necesita, si ar trebui sa fie custom, si nu am vazut nimic close de ce as vrea asa ca de ce sa-mi bat capul? Ma descurc cu ce am.
Eu am luat cele 4 chitare,pt ca stiu ca ofera o calitate cat de cat buna, pentru cat am dat pe ele (vs cat as da afara), si ca pot avea oarecum acelasi build quality si acelasi tip de sound, permitandu-mi in acelasi timp sa am mai multe acordaje diferite, chitarele fiind in mare masura, la fel. (daca ar fi sa exclud una din cele 4 ce e din alt lemn total si intradevar e diferita de restu 3).
Cea mai apropiata chitara sa faca ce as dori eu din multe puncte de vedere(sonice), e ceva in genul Sky Guitar-ul (modelul nou de la Dean), a lui Uli Jon Roth, dar cam atat.

* Finished an EP Booster with an internal voltage doubler(you input 9V, and internally there is 18), and some other tweaks (extra tone cut pot and a boost pot + a three way bass pot).
A really great sounding variant!
You can even get some nice grit out of it maxed

Pe un singur DPDT merge pt ambele doze, nu trebuie sa pui 2 (depinde ce vrei sa faci, sa dai O data de switch si ai oricand ambele doze split, sa ai cate una pe rand, sa poti combina split cu HB?, etc)
A doua chestie, ar fi ca trebuie (daca ai 4 wire), sa te gandesti CARE coil il vrei on, the "screw coil" sau the "stud coil"?
Dupa ce esti lamurit ce si cum cu doza, si daca ai 4 fire, foloseste chartul asta:

Avand acel chart, in functie de ce doze ai tu in chitara, faci color matching cu un wiring de Seymour Duncan sa zicem, ce face acel split, in functie de care doza o vrei.

Setup on a brand new Fender US Strat with a fixed bridge (still has the protective pickguard foil on heh).
I also checked the wiring and cleaned the pots and switch; also, I tightened up things on the whole guitar.
Changed the surface trimpot on the onboard preamp in another Warwick Bass

The Wampler Faux Analog Echo delay clone for the German dude
(pedal build no. 104!)
A Mesa Boogie .50 Cal came in for a tube swap and also a chassis correction of a screw that was rusted and stuck (I actually drilled in the broken screw to take it out, and managed to keep the original hole intact
)
An Epiphone LP came in for some tweaks/setup/neck clean/etc and an output jack swap (a lot of stuff were loose, the stud inserts even came out by hand easily...scary)

-rust removal
-rewiring+ changed the output jack
-fretwire clean
-fretboard and neck clean
-nut clean and adjustments
-setup as best as possible (not the best guitar to work on...)

A Legend strat (MIJ) setup, neck/fretboard clean, fretwire clean; changed almost all screws and also the knobs + changed the output jack (also tinkered internally with the switch, that had some mechanical problems; didn't have one on hand, but will maybe come in at some point to put in a new one)
A Warwick Corvette SS came in for a setup, fretwire + fretboard clean, some wiring issues were solved, and also installed a new tuning key because the old one broke off. Also had to take off the brass nut which was loose and re-file the base of the neck and reglue the nut back.
Had to do some rust removal on some screws (besides taking aparat the whole bridge and cleaning stuff)
Installed a new Graph Tech nut on a Morris Acoustic.
There was some work because the base had to be slanted(like the original nut), so I filed it down accordingly
Also, had to adjust the height on E , B and G separately.
On the old nut, the Low E and the High E(especially), were too low.

Sugerez un kit de 4xEL84 imperecheate. JJ sunt destul de robuste, dar merge cam orice vrei tu. Bune sunt TAD de exemplu.
El spune ca are DSL40, deci 2 x EL34.
DSL401 are 4 x EL84

)Urmeaza si o varianta interesanta mai custom de EP booster cu 3 knobs, si 1 sau 2 switchuri externe + internal bias adjustment + 18V internal doubler pt un user de pe forum.

Exact ce am spus,reverbul are momente când merge și momente când nu merge.
Nu, exact ce ai spus stii ce inseamna?
Ca unul dintre arcurile fizice din tankul de reverb chiar sare din locas (asta se poate intampla daca e o problema cu el, de la socuri).
Pentru cineva care stie ce e in acel tank, asta intelege. Reverbul nu "sare" ca functionalitate, eventual poti spune ca se intrerupe.

Luati cat e cald, ca facuta handmade iar costa mult mai mult.O pedala pe care am facut-o mai demult , se poate vedea aici, este din martie 2013, acum 4 ani!

L-am rezolvat eu
, si pe langa asta am si refacut toate lipiturile la socluri....fiind foarte reci majoritatea (adica, indepartand cositorul vechi, si punand nou..nu touchup cretin pe lipiturile existente)Problema a fost bridge rectifierul uzat + o rezistenta ce era complet moarta si nu avea semne vizibile deloc pe ea.
Reparatiile astea implica multa multa cautare
si multe poze cu pozitia firelor (nu le postez pe toate haha)

Vrei sa faci chestii gen MXR Phase 90?
Am vazut discutii pe alte forumuri unde multi ziceau ca la jucaria de mai sus nu au imperecheat nimic si nu a fost nici o problema. Au folosit doar J-Fet-uri din acelasi lot, atat.
Eu cand am facut Phase 90, am luat direct set matched (2n5952) , 4 bucati, chiar pentru Phase 90
Ca sa fiu sincer, nu mi-am batut niciodata capul cu asta, desi pentru unele fuzzuri sa zicem, ar conta iar...dar meh.
Daca nu e ceva super sensibil sau mega boutique sau old school ce necesita asta sa obtii "ingredientul special" in sound... mneaaaaah.
